cover image of The Broken TeaglassI ended up pretty disappointed in this tale of young lexicographers on the trail of a mystery they discover buried in the citation files at the dictionary publisher where they work. Sounds like a wonderful idea with extraordinary potential, doesn’t it? I thought so, too. Alas, the characters were not much fun, and I found I cared little about the mystery and its solution. Sad, really. For stories that surprise, with characters and dialogue that zip & zing & make you laugh, read David Carkeet and James Hynes instead.
