Chicago up-and-comer Marcus Sakey delivers another edgy thriller. The four title characters are among the dumbest, most unprepared protagonists you are ever likely to meet; still, this reader could not help but get caught up in the story of their cascading domino array of blunders. It’s sort of  St. Elmo’s Fire meets Small Time Crooks. We experience not only the mayhem that results from their “simple plan” to rip off a sleazy hood for several hundred grand, but also witness the disintegration of trust and loyalty among friends when the going gets truly rough.
